What is the Visual Vocal Mobile App?

The Visual Vocal mobile VR app lets Project Owners and end-users (stakeholders and viewers) view and interact with immersive design content. Project Owners compose collections of panoramas that present either planned or built environments. Project owners and other creators organize this content into scenes, where each scene represents a location. When running the mobile VR app, end-users can switch between seeing different design alternatives and then (depending on their permissions level) record and upload feedback.

The mobile VR app runs on the following platforms:

  • iOS: iPhone 5S and newer, iOS 7.0 and higher.
  • Android: Select carrier-supported devices, 2014 and newer, KitKat and higher.

Stakeholder Feedback

The Visual Vocal mobile app treats user feedback similarly to a draft email while in progress, allowing users to ponder decisions over time and re-record verbal feedback if desired. Nothing is submitted to the Visual Vocal backend until the user puts a stamp of approval on their feedback by formally submitting it in the app. Users are not required to vocalize on all options – e.g., out of five hotspots, they may only voice annotate one – but they must explicitly submit their feedback in order for it to be recorded on the backend. Once feedback is submitted by the user, the Vv becomes read-only for them – users can view but not change their feedback.

Synthesis is the process by which the results of a Vv are reviewed by one or more Project Owners and takes place in VR in the Visual Vocal mobile app. Once a Vv commences, a Project Owner may enter the Vv on their device and view the in-progress voice+gaze feedback. Visual Vocal’s user management system ensures that synthesis is not visible to Stakeholders or Viewers – only to Project Owners.
At any time during the Vv lifetime, manually – or automatically when the Vv concludes – the Visual Vocal backend will email the to-date results of the Vv to all Project Owners as a CSV email attachment. This allows the recipients to use the visualization tools of their choosing, both for internal analysis and sharing results with the client.
