Revit 2017 with V-Ray 3.6 (Stereo cubemaps)

These instructions are geared to people who are well versed in using Revit and V-Ray. These instructions are meant to help you optimize your workflow so that you can produce 360 stereo panoramas that work well with the Visual Vocal web portal and mobile VR application.

  1. After you've installed V-Ray for Revit, click on the V-Ray tab.
  2. Click on the "Camera" button to show the camera options:
  3. Make sure to set your Camera Mode to "VR Stereo Camera (Cubic 12:1)":
    • When you do this, twelve standard cameras are arranged to generate stereoscopic VR output. Half of the cameras generate the left cubic output, and the other half generates the right cubic output.
  4. Click on the "Resolution" button and set the dimensions to be the same for width and height (aspect ratio = 1):
  5. Click on "Render With V-Ray"
  6. The rendering progress will be displayed in the status window:
  7. As the rendering proceeds, you will see the V-Ray Render Frame Buffer with the 12x1 tile configuration:
  8. When you import a V-Ray "12x1 stereo cubemap" into a V|V, it will automatically be recognized as an image of type "STEREO VRAY/GearVR/Oculus cubemap, left-right".
